Myeongdong remains the most lively shopping district for people in Seoul throughout winter. Certainly, Myeongdong is busier than ever in this season. People in Seoul continues to visit Myeong-dong to shop for fashion, cosmetic and skin cares and for nice restaurant and street food in winter. It is also the best time to take nice photos in Myeong-dong especially at night with the beautiful Christmas Lighting all around. So, bring your DSLR camera if you have one.

How to get to Lotte World from Myeongdong Seoul

If you are staying in Myeongdong and would like to go to a good theme park that is nearer to Seoul, Lotte World is the best choice for you. There are a few ways to go Lotte World Theme Park from Seoul, including taxi, public bus, shuttle bus, KAL Limousine Bus, and subway train. In this post, we will show you the cheapest and fastest way to get to Lotte World from Myeongdong, that is by using Seoul Metropolitan Subway trains.

How to take Subway Train from Myeongdong Station to Lotte World

Lotte World theme park is directed connected to EXIT 4 of Jamsil Station on Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 4. As Myeongdong Station is on Line 2 of Seoul Metropolitan Subway, you will need to change from Line 4 to Line 2 at Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station.

Here are the steps to get to Lotte World from Myeongdong:
  1. First board the subway train at Myeongdong Subway Station (Line 4) heading towards Chungmuro Station (not Seoul Station). This is marked with D in the map above. 
  2. Get off the train at Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station, Change to Line 2 and take the train heading towards Sindang Station direction. This is marked with T in the map above. 
  3. Get off at Jamsil Station, where Lotte World is located. Exit Jamsil station using EXIT 4 and Lotte World is in front of you. This is marked with A in the map above. 
The whole journey will take about 33 minutes to go from Myeongdong to Jamsil Station where Lotte World is located. In this subway journey, the train will pass through 13 station. Arrival at each station is clearly announced in many languages and indicated on the signage on the train. So, do not worry that you will miss the station. 
Upon arrival at Lotte World, you can enjoy your time at Lotte World by visiting Lotte World Adventure, Lotte World Water Park and the Lotte World Aquarium. After having fun and enjoying your time at Lotte World you can head back to Myeongdong by taking train the the reverse direction heading back to Dongdaemun History and Culture Park and change line to Line 4 to take the train heading towards Myeongdong direction.

Subway Ticket Fare from Myeongdong Station to Jamsil Station (Lotte World)

Taking subway train to got Lotte World is not only the fastest way, but also the cheapest way. If you are buying the subway ticket for a single trip from Myeongdong to Jamsil station, the ticket fare is only 1450Won. Therefore, the round trip will only cost you 2900 Won. If you are using transit card such as T-Money Card, then you can save more money because the single trip going to Lotte World will only cost you 1350 Won and the round trip ticket fare from Myeongdong to Jamsil and return to Myeongdong is only 2700 Won.

Children aged between 7 to 12 years old can enjoy cheaper ticket price (only 500 Won) for the subway trip from Myeongdong Station to Jamsil Station. If you have teenage family members (aged between 13 to 18 years old, it is most worthwhile to buy them transit card because they also enjoy a discount ticket price at 800 Won for their subway trip from Myeongdong to Lotte World. Anyone aged 19 and above are considered adult and must pay full fare for the subway ticket.

Other Ways to go from Myeongdong to Lotte World

Apart from taking the subway train, there are also other ways to get to Lotte World from Myeongdong using public transport. Of course if you do not want the hassle of taking subway train, you can take the taxi which is a lot more expensive. You can also get to Lotte World using Seoul public buses such as Green Bus and Blue Bus but they are less suitable for tourists who are not familiar with the places and Korean language. Therefore, taking subway train is still the best way (fastest and cheapest) to get to Lotte World from Myeongdong Seoul.

Shuttle Bus from Myeongdong Seoul to Everland

How about spend a day away from Myeongdong to visit to Everland, Koreans' favourite theme park, to complete your vacation in Seoul. Everland offers lots of fun and adventures for everyone all year long through a wide range of themes from Global Fair, Magic Lan, American Adventure, European Adventure to Zootopia. Best of all, there is a shuttle bus service that will bring you direct from Myeongdong Seoul to Everland Resort.

Direct Shuttle Bus from Myeongdong, Seoul to Everland

Most travel websites will recommend you to take Seoul Metropolitan Subway and train from Giheung Station to Jeondae Everland Station or to take bus 5002 or 5700 from Seoul to go to Everyland. However, none of these public transports start from Myeongdong. In this post, we will show you a special shuttle bus offered by Daesung Tour in collaboration to Everland that will take you direct from Myeongdong Seoul to Everland. The trip time is only about 40-50 minutes. Unlike taking subway and train, you don't have to worry about changing train line.
This shuttle bus service departs from the bus stop at EXIT 2 of Myeongdong Subway Station (In front of Hotel Prince) at 9:40am everyday. The location map of the bus stop is shown below.

The Bus Stop for Shuttle Bus to Everland is located at EXIT 2, Myeongdong Subway Station, in front of Hotel Prince (as shown by the arrows). 

Ticket Fare for Shuttle Bus from Myeongdong to Everland Seoul

The round trip ticket fare for shuttle bus from Myeongdong Seoul to Everland and return to Myeongdong is only 12,000 Won. However, most of the time, you can get the round trip ticket free of charge if you buy the Everland entrance ticket from Daesung Tour who provide this shuttle bus service from Myeongdong to Seoul. In other words, what you get is buy Everland ticket and get free shuttle bus tickets from Myeongdong to Everland. 
At the time of writing, Daesung Tour is selling Everland ticket at 38,000 Won which include a free round trip ticket to Everland. This Everland ticket price is not more expensive than buying the ticket directly at Everland. Perhaps Daesung Tour has been given a deal by Everland for bringing so many visitor to their theme park. That is why Daesung Tour can sell Everland ticket at cheap price and provide complimentary shuttle bus service as well.

Booking Everland ticket and Shuttle Bus ticket at the Same Time

To get the shuttle bus free, the trick is to buy Everland ticket as well. To do so you can call 
Daeseong Tour at telephone number 032-322-7001 at least one day before your trip between 9am and 6.30am. Do not worry, the  phone operator can speak English. In fact, the free shuttle bus require advance booking and available for tourist (foreign passport holder only). 

Shuttle Bus returning form Everland to to Myeongdong Seoul

As the shuttle bus ticket is sold or given free of charge for round trip, you can use the same shuttle bus service to return to Myeongdong Seoul after spending a day of fun at Everland. The returning bus will depart from Everland at 6:30pm. Make sure you are on time and be there a little early. Keeping in mind Everland is a large place and you should give your ample of time to walk to the car park area to catch the bus. There will be many buses there to pick up tourists from different tour groups. Daesung Tour shuttle bus from Everland to Myeongdong will be parked at Parking Lot No. 5, Platform No. 7-8. How to go from Myeongdong Seoul to Everland

In this post, we introduce the shuttle bus service offered by Daesung Tour in collaboration with Everland that will bring you directly from Myeongdong to Everland. Of course, you can still choose to use the subway and train option, that is less convenient as you need to change train line etc. Best of all you can get the round trip ticket for the shuttle bus from Myeongdong Seoul to Everland and return for free if you buy Everland tickets from the bus operator which is Daesung Tour. 

Ski Purple Bus from Myeongdong Seoul to Alpensia Resort Pyeongchang

If you are in Seoul from late November to early March, don't miss the opportunity to experience skiing and snowboarding at Korean's favourite slopes at Alpensia Resort. Alpensia Resort is about 3 hours plus of driving from Seoul but take it easy. There is a comfortable shuttle bus service named "Ski Purple Bus" that can take you from Myeongdong Seoul to Alpensia Resort, but make sure you BOOK IN ADVANCE.


Ski Purple Bus to Alpensia Resort picks up passengers right in front of Prince Hotel, Myeongdong, Seoul, which is located just 20 meters from EXIT 2 of Myeongdong Subway Station (Line 4 of Seoul Metropolitan Subway). The location map of this bus stop for Ski Purple Bus is shown below.

There is only one bus trip daily to Alpensia Resort from Seoul. If you are boarding the bus at Myeongdong, the departure time is 7:55AM in front of Hotel Prince. Make sure you are there 10 minutes before departure time to be safe. If you miss the bus, the next pick up point is Dongdaemun Gate at 8:15AM. The last pick up point is Sports Complex Station at 9:00AM. After Sports Complex Station, the bus will be on express non-stop trip to Alpensia Resort in Pyeongchang. The Whole journey is about 3 hours plus but it is worth it once you arrive at the beautiful Alpensia Resort to enjoy skiing and snowboarding. For your information, the bus will stop at the Welcome center of the Alpensia Hotel Resort upon reaching its destination.
For returning trip to Myeongdong, you can use the same bus service. There are two bus trips daily from Alpensia Resort back to Myeongdong Seoul. The first bus trip departs at 12:30PM from the bus Stop at Welcome center of the Alpensia Hotel Resort. The second and last bus trip returning to Myeongdong departs at 4:30PM also from the Welcome center of the Alpensia Hotel Resort. If you miss the 4:30PM bus, you will have to stay overnight at Alpensia Resort. The best choice of accommodation here will be Holiday Inn Resort Alpensia Pyeongchang


The one way bus ticket from Myeongdong Seoul to Alpensia Resort cost US$19 for adult and US$16 for child below 12 years old (free for baby below 24 months). For return tickets (round trip) from Myeongdong Seoul to Alpensia Resort and back to Myeondong or any stop in Seoul, the bus ticket fare is USD34 for adult and USD28 for child. Therefore, it is more worth it to buy the round trip with return ticket because you can save USD4.
It is important to note that upon arrival at Alpensia, you can buy the day pass Ski Lift Pass at USD$46 per person which include the gondola. On the other hand, ski gears like ski, pole and boots can be rented at the rate of US$19 per person. If you go in a group, you can get ski coaching lesson at USD200 per group. 
Since there is only one trip a day from Myeongdong Seoul to Alpensia Resort, you must book your bus seat no later than 7 days before your trip via the Ski Purple Bus website. Payment can be done via Credit Card (Paypal) or wire transfer. Upon confirmation, you will be given a BAR CODE for your booking which you must show to the driver to take the bus. Booking less than 7 days before the bus trip to Alpensia Resort can still be done by calling the Ski Purple Bus call center at +82 70 7847 5850 or +82-2-335-5889. The cut off time of booking is 5:00PM the day before the bus trip. 

How to go to Alpensia Resort Pyeongchang from Myeongdong Seoul

In summary, you just need to book yourself a Ski Purple Bus ticket for a bus trip from Prince Hotel Myeongdong, Seoul to Alpensia Resort in Pyeongchang. Advance booking via website or phone call is required. Buy the round trip ticket to Myeongdong to get discount. If the shuttle bus from Myeongdong Seoul to Alpensia Resort is too expensive for your family, you may consider Vivaldi Park Ski World which provide free shuttle bus from Myeongdong. 

How to go to Daemyung Vivaldi Park Ski World from Myeongdong Seoul

It is winter snowing season again and it is the best time to experience snow and skiing at the Korean's world famous Vivaldi Park. Going from Myeongdong at downtown Seoul to Vivaldi Park is easy as well. With more than 10 slopes suitable for beginners to expert level skiing, Vivaldi Park is the most popular winter skiing destination near Seoul.


Do you know that there are free shuttle bus that take you from Myeongdong to Daemyung Vivaldi Park Ski World? This year in 2015, this free shuttle bus will start from 1 DECEMBER 2015 until end of ski season. This free shuttle bus service is specially provided for FOREIGNERS only. In other words, you must hold non-Korean Passport to enjoy this free shuttle service. NOTE THAT ADVANCE BOOKING IS A MUST. Read below for how to do the booking.


The bus stop for the free shuttle bus to Vivaldi Park is located at LOTTE HOTEL, MYEONGDONG. Lotte Hotel Myeongdong is located at 30, Eulji-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, Korea Lotte Hotel Seoul. It is just 1 minute walk from EXIT 8 of Euljiro 1-ga Subway Station on Line 2. The location map of Lotte Hotel Myeongdong is shown below.
Go to Lotte Hotel Myeongdong to take free shuttle bus to Daemyung Vivaldi Park Ski World

There is only ONE free shuttle bus from Myeongdong to Vivaldi Park Ski World daily. The bus depart at 8:00am from Lotte Hotel Myeongdong. Make sure you are on time. The bus journey from Myeongdong Seoul to Vivaldi Park will take 1 hour and 45 minutes. The estimated arrival time at Daemyung Vivaldi Park is 9:45am. You will have plenty of time enjoying skiing at one of the thirteen skiing track at Vivaldi Park.


Since there is only ONE bus a day, advance seat booking for ski shuttle bus to Vivaldi Park is a must. It can be done through VIVALDI PARK Website for shuttle bus reservation no later than 3 days before taking the bus. On the reservation website, Click on the Reservation button on the page. Then choose "LOTTE HOTEL MYEONGDONG" as the station you will wait for the free shuttle bus to Vivaldi Park. After that, fill out your basic information for your reservation. Once completed, you will receive your ski shuttle bus reservation confirmation voucher automatically. You can either print it or save a copy on your mobile phone so that you can show your reservation when getting onto the bus. Don't forget to bring your foreign ID or passport too because you need to show it when getting onto the bus. 



Don't worry about returning to Myeongdong Seoul. Vivaldi Park provide the same free shuttle bus service for your returning journey. After enjoying your day skiing at the world class Vivaldi Park, you can take the shuttle bus back to Myeongdong Seoul. The shuttle bus departs Vivaldi Park at 6:00pm. The returning journey will take about 2 hours. Your expected arrival time at Lotte Hotel Myeongdong is 8:00pm. Similarly, don't forget to book your returning seat in advance as well through the website. Otherwise, you would have to stay overnight at Vivaldi Park (don't worry, there are very good accommodation hotel at Vivaldi Park if you wish to stay for a few days to enjoy the snow and ski).

How to go from Myeongdong Seoul to Daemyung Vivaldi Park Ski World?

In summary, just take the free shuttle bus at Lotte Hotel Myeongdong and you will arrive at Vivaldi Park in less than 2 hours. Remember, advance reservation for this bus seat through website is required and it is specially provided to foreigner tourist only. Don't forget to book your returning bus trip to Myeongdong. Enjoy skiing at Vivaldi Park before returning to Myeongdong for shopping and some warm Kyoja in the winter!

AREX / Subway Train from Incheon Airport to Myeong-dong, Seoul

Taking train and subway from Incheon International Airport to Myeong-dong is the second best choice because you need to change train line at Seoul Station. The best choice is still to take Bus 6015 (fare: KRW 10,000 = approx US$8.80) that takes you directly to Myeongdong.

Before you continue reading, just be WARNED that taking train to Myeongdong is NOT advisable if you have to carry heavy luggage with you. You have to walk for about five minutes Seoul Station to change line from AREX train to Line 4 of Seoul Subway to get to Myeongdong Station. In addition, the subway station is deep underground. The stairs at subway stations are quite high and long to climb and the walkway could be bumpy for luggage too.

Therefore, taking Bus 6015 is most convenient in most cases because it will take you directly to directly to Myeongdong without changing line or station. However, the bus route takes 1 hour 30 minutes while train route would typically take only 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes.

Taking AREX Train from Incheon Airport to Myeong-dong

Having said all that, if you prefer to take train, all you need to do is to following these steps:

  1. Take the Airport Railway Express (AREX) train from Incheon International Airport Station to Seoul Station. 
  2. At Seoul Station, change to LINE 4 of Seoul Metropolitan Subway to get to Myeong-dong, which is only 2 stations away from Seoul Station.
  3. Get off at Myeong-dong Station.
NEWS UPDATE: Good news for passengers who use AREX to go to Myeongdong. From March 2015, a new passage from AREX platform to LINE 4 platform has been opened to make it easier for passengers who go to Myeongdong to change from AREX to LINE 4 of Seoul Metropolitan Subway . This new passage way has shorten transfer walking time from 15 minutes to a short 5 minutes.

Train Ticket Fare from Incheon to Myeong-dong

The one way ticket from Incheon Airport to AREX Seoul Station costs is KRW14,300 (approximately US$12.60). However, there is a special discount fare at KRW8,000 (US$7.00) from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016. 
From Seoul Station to Myeong-dong, the Subway ticket price  is KRW1,250.
In total, the fare from Incheon to Myeong-dong KRW9,250 (Approximately US$8.15). This is only less than KRW1000 (US$0.88)cheaper than using Bus 6015. 

How to buy AREX Ticket at Incheon International Airport?

Before you proceed to buy the AREX Ticket, it is important to know that there are two types of train service from Incheon to Seoul. One is AREX which is the express non-stop train from airport to Seoul Station. The other one is the commuter train that stops at 10 stations before arriving at Seoul Station which will take more than 53 minutes. 
We recommend AREX train because it is more comfortable, provides spaces for luggage, free WiFi on board and has a restroom/toilet on board.

With that said, now lets explore how to buy AREX ticket at Incheon Airport. Upon arrival at Incheon International Airport, there are two places to buy AREX train ticket:
  1. At the Airport Train Information Centre at the Arrival Hall - Th information center is orange in color. The staff here can speak English well.

  2. At the Airport Railway station - from the Arrival Hall, follow the signage to go to the Airport Railway Station. The signage looks like below. At the station, you can buy the AREX train ticket from the vending machine. Four languages are available on this vending machine, which are Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese. If you prefer to buy over a counter, you can also get the ticket from the Information counter at the AREX Station.

Once you have gotten your ticket, getting onto the train is straight forward. Don't forget that there is an Information counter at the station if you have any question.

AREX Train Timetable

The first AREX train departs from the Incheon International Airport AREX Station to AREX Seoul Station at 5:30am in the morning. The last AREX train to depart from Incheon International Airport is 9:30pm in the evening. 

The journey from Incheon Airport to AREX Seoul Station is 43 minutes. This is very short because it is an express train and does not stop at any station between Incheon AREX station and AREX Seoul Station. 

Arriving at Seoul Station

AREX train will take you to AREX Seoul Station. Upon arrival, you will need to change platform to LINE 4 of Seoul Metropolitan Area Subway Network. NOTE that you need to buy a new ticket for Seoul Metropolitan Area Subway. There are a few types of ticket to buy here depending on your transportation plan in Seoul:
  1. Single-use cards: If you don't plan to use Seoul Subway for the rest of your stay in Seoul, buy this at the Seoul Subway Station Vending Machine or Information Center. 
  2. T-money cards: If you plan to use Seoul Subway to go to places in Seoul during your stay, T-money card is the best choice. It is a prepaid card that can be purchased at the Subway station or any convenient stores. Nine Tree Hotel in Myeongdong sell T-money card at their reception too.
  3. M-Pass: This is the best option for those who want to use public transport intensively in Seoul. You can take up to 20 rides per day with this card. However, it is only commonly sold at Tourist Information Centers, If you plan to get an M-pass, you can get it upon arrival at Incheon Airport at the Seoul Tourist Information Center at Gates 5 and 10 on Level 1 of the Incheon International Airport. 
Once you have got one of the above ticket card, just hope on to the platform of LINE 4 at Seoul Station. Catch the train that is heading to Hoehyeon Station. Myeongdong Station is right after Heohyeon Station. Do not board the train heading to Sookmyong Women's Univ.

Arriving at Myeong-dong Station

Once you are on the train, you are just less than 5 minutes from your final destination: Myeong-dong Station. After leaving Seoul Station, the train will make a stop at Hoehyeon Station before stopping at Myeong-dong station. 
Here you are, finally arriving at Myeong-dong from Incheon Airport. Myeong-dong station has 10 exits, depends on where you want to go (more in the next section).

From Myeongdong Station to Your Hotel

Most people who want easy access to the Seoul Subway will choose to stay at Nine Tree Hotel (150 meters from EXIT 9) or Sejong Hotel (near EXIT 10). An exact guide on how to go from Myeong-dong station to Nine Tree Hotel is available here.
